This 7 August, the British Council brings a world-class musical experience to the Ohrid Summer Festival: violinist Jack Liebeck who performs with pianist Katya Apekisheva.

Jack Liebeck: Virtuoso, Visionary, Collaborator

Described by The Guardian as delivering performances that are “spacious and eloquent, played with a warmth and sense of line that betrays none of the music’s technical demands,” Jack Liebeck is one of the most compelling violinists of his generation. A recipient of the Classical BRIT Award and the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Young Artist Award, Liebeck is known for his flawless technique, expressive tone, and intellectual curiosity. His passion for science and storytelling has led to groundbreaking collaborations with physicist Brian Cox, as well as composers Dario Marianelli and Paul Dean, resulting in genre-defying works that explore the intersection of music, physics, and philosophy.

Katya Apekisheva: A Pianist of Poetic Power

Katya Apekisheva is one of Europe’s most sought-after pianists, celebrated for her intense artistry, refined touch, and deep musical insight. A finalist at the Leeds International Piano Competition and a regular performer at major festivals worldwide, she brings a rare sensitivity and strength to every performance.

Her long-standing collaboration with Jack Liebeck has produced critically acclaimed recordings, including interpretations of Kreisler, Brahms, and Dvořák, praised for their intimacy, lyricism, and technical finesse.
